Program Coordinator – Position Responsibilities

Program Coordinator for The Learning Trail, assisting in the implementation of an after-school tutoring program and a preschool in an underserved Hispanic community in Chapel Hill. Part-time, flexible hours working with a great team of volunteers!

Company information:
The Learning Trail, a non-profit, has a long history serving the Nature Trail community. We provide a preschool, after-school tutoring, an enrichment program and a parent program, free of charge.  Our mission is to reduce the education gap that exists for these children and offer educational and social support to their parents. We are primarily a volunteer organization with a working Board of Directors overseeing our programs.

Job description:
The Program Coordinator will supervise the preschool teacher and aide, work with lead tutors in each grade on educational matters and resources, coordinate the enrichment program activities, and supervise the parent program. To perform these duties, applicants should have at least a bachelor’s degree, teaching or school administrative experience, leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to our mission.

The Program Coordinator will:

• Have a part-time position of approximately 20 hours/week, primarily during the school year

• Have flexibility to determine when to be present for Preschool, After-school, and Parent activities

• Enjoy working with children in small groups and with dedicated volunteers and Board members

• Receive of salary of $20,000/year

Location:
The Learning Trail is located in Chapel Hill, NC, off of Mt. Carmel Church Road, Chatham County.  We are housed in two renovated classrooms within the Nature Trail mobile home community, provided to us by the property owner.
